Stuff and stuff

Here's a picture of Tiger the kitten my son adopted in between soccer games last weekend. She's very pretty.

Tiger a 10 week old kitten my son adopted

I'm blogging early because I'm pretty much exhausted. What with the soccer tournament last weekend I didn't get to catch up on my sleep which means I've been running at a deficit all week. Missed the gym more days than not because I wanted that extra hour of sleep.

Looks like His Wicked Witch will be titled My Forbidden Desire which title I like quite a lot.

The Next Historical is going reasonably well. I'm finding out some very interesting stuff about Syria and what Napoleon was up to. Right now I'm researching Harems. Worked in the car at lunchtime.

Lastly, my apologies for the boring post. I will try to do better next time. Hopefully after I'd caught up on my sleep.

Remind me to tell you-all about the marshmallow pyramid.

That sun done set

I am finally done revising His Wicked Witch. It took FOREVER to read through for errors. Found some. Fixed a lot of stuff.

I have emailed it to NYC.

Now, to get going on the November book.

Nite.

The Sun Also Revises

I revised at lunchtime in the car (because the day job has no lunch room and no conference rooms) then I came home, did stuff that needed to get done, whisked the son off to soccer practice and sat in the car and revised some more. Then I did more stuff that had to get done and now I'm back to revisions as soon as I post this. Well, just checking that I didn't create any new messes and cleaning up anything else I find.

Sigh

I'm exhausted because of Acheron and I have to get up at 6:30 or so because my son has a soccer tournament this weekend. Two games Saturday one Sunday, and then, depending on the outcome, possibly a championship game.

Off to revise.

Why am I Exhausted? Lemme Tell You....

Acheron.

That's why.

I really really enjoyed Acheron. Enough that I went two nights in a row staying up far too late for a 4:25 am wake up. I'm dragging now. Could I quibble about this book? Yes, but not about very much and not about anything that matters. And to be honest, after reading a few Big Books that were a disappointment, I was thrilled to read one that wasn't in any way.

Sherrilyn Kenyon totally delivers. I expect I'll be re-reading it, too.

I have a final read through of revisions for His Wicked Witch and then it's off to NY. Then I have to write like heck for the book due Nov 15.

Off to it.

Off to RWA!

I'm pretty much packed except for all the important stuff I forgot. Now just last minute chores so things aren't gross when I get back on Sunday.

I'm close but no cigar to being done with revisions for His Wicked Witch. I'm taking a print out with me to RWA for a final read through for continuity and egregious errors. Note to self: turn on the printer.

Although My Wicked Enemy isn't quite officially out, I know it's shipping from Amazon and that it's available in stores now. So, w00t!! Go get your copy now!

One more RWA-related comment then I'm off to finish getting ready:

It's in San Francisco. In July. Of course it's cold!!

I'll be blogging and twittering at the conference so see you on line!

Catching up

Quick update in case anybody missed me. (Well, there must be at least one of you, right? Mom? Fact: my mother doesn't read my blog. Oh well.)

Copyedits for Scandal got mailed off Monday the 21st.

I've been doing revisions for His Wicked Witch with the goal of being done before RWA. I think I'm on track. I've been on coughVacationcough since Thursday working on them. Funny, but the stuff my editor seemed to think was a big deal (comparatively) I dealt with by using the delete key or changing a sentence or two and the little throw away could you do this instead here? have been major whack a chapter, write a new one lots o work efforts. Good stuff though, I think.

My Wicked Enemy has started showing up in bookstores because I'm getting emails. I can't tell you how exciting that is! I love nice emails from readers!

Here's an excerpt from another review:

Carolyn Jewel takes readers on a dangerous journey with Carson, an untrained witch who finds strength through Nikodemus. Together they can stop the mage who threatens their existence and fills Carson with fear. My Wicked Enemy unfolds at a steady pace and offers up a host of characters that keep the deadly action flowing. The storyline is fresh, the characters are entertaining, and the romance is delightfully steamy.

Quickie Update

I'm sitting here at Starbucks doing day job work. Right now files are transferring and I can't do anything until that's done. So here I am!

I've finished the copyedits for Scandal. I just have to make copies of the MS then get it into the mail. Now I'm starting in on the revisions for His Wicked Witch

All done with the day job stuff... Bye!

Checking in - Things is Crazy Here

Just a quick post. As many of you probably know, RWA has its national conference in San Francisco July 30 to August 2. Which is soon. Really soon. (Yay!)

I have the copyedits for Scandal (due date: July 31) Snort. Real drop dead last day: July 28, because I head down there the 29th since the Beau Monde Conference is the 30th.

Today I got the revision letter for His Wicked Witch or whatever it ends up being called. Argh! I've only given it a quick glance to make sure I wasn't being asked to write a completely different book. No. Very good, there!

And, of course there's the WIP and today I didn't get a chance to work during lunch because I worked through lunch which means 0 words today. Panic is setting in.

Right so I'm really busy and may not be blogging too much between now and July 29 when I will be blogging and twittering the conference. Hopefully on my iPhone...

For now, I'll be twittering more reliably than blogging because that's easier, shorter and faster than blogging. Also you can't get carried away and keep writing some big old longer than you intended post.

In Carolyn's perfect world copyedits and revisions are done by July 28.

Wish me luck.

Doing the Crazy Dance

I figured I better blog now before things get away from me. It's been hectic over here at Jewel central. First off in a tour-de-force example of the Clumping Effect (which effect name I just now made up) I ended up with 3 count them 3 things all due today.

Thing 1: A summary of His Wicked Witch for my editor. And yes, a summary is so close to a synopsis, you might as well call it a very very short synopsis, AKA Hell on a Flaming Hot Ball of Wax.

Thing 2: A 3 part writing project for an author spotlight for Romantic Times. A 50 word description of my novel (AKA Torture on a stale bun) an excerpt (HINT: it's not from chapter 1) and a letter thingee from me. But Please! Look for me on their website in August. I'm pretty excited about it.

Thing 3: Vetting the draft of the book trailer for My Wicked Enemy

But I got them done and they came out pretty awesome I think.

Now I'm going to go make dinner, maybe snap some pics and then write. Gotta do the writing thing.
