95+. I've sent a copy off to a trusted reader and would like to send to my agent next week. Freaking about what's going to happen if she tells me it reeks, or worse if it seems like she isn't telling me that. Also, I need to wrack my brains for a second reader, because additional input would be ideal, but it needs to be someone who will actually tell me what needs to be fixed, which means, naturally, that such a person also needs to know what needs to be fixed. Creatively analytical and honest. I'm like Diogenes (did I spell that right? It looks wrong) with his lantern. Right now my brain is wrecked and I can't even think of anyone. I think I'm not happy with the ending.

I've been plotting out some ideas for another paranormal, but I'm working harder on ideas for another historical which I just think will be really cool. But I need to sit down and make some decisions about what I'm going to pitch where and to whom. Actually, now my agent can help me with that decision. Yay! Tired. So what's new.

Also, I used wracked, reeked and wrecked, all in the same entry and I did it on purpose because I am a writer and words are my life. Plus, my sense of humor is highly suspect.

93K plus a little. The end needs a bit more work and I have to make a story adjustment to accomodate one of the other books. Not much, and not surprising really, the adjustment I've made works really well. Or will when I'm finished putting it in. Fell asleep this afternoon. Yikes. Well, should go because 5am is, as ever, really early.

90K. I added a nice twist in the last couple of days. It solidifies the hero's reason for being in the demon world and gives him a solid reason to be against making vamps and I think picks up on some of the themes emerging. I've written the new chapter and will start making the adjustments elsewhere. But basically, I'm done. A few things to expand on, and then I think I'm on target for getting it to readers by end of the month. We'll see. Friday is a work holiday, but not a school holiday so I will get some extra work done Friday. Am up too late.

88K+ I need another chapter somewhere. I think the ending is missing something. I have no idea if this sucks or what. I think it doesn't.But then, today, I fixed some really awful stuff.

87+ Holding breath here. Maybe it's kind good. Am still in an over-caffeinated state. Ought to be in bed.

84+ Just finished a read through and have the edits in. There was one chapter that I had to refocus. Don't know if I got it right yet. Still needs some work. Tired and not feeling well. Note: No giant asteriod has hit the planet. Yet. (See comments to previous post.)

82K plus. I think I'm essentially done with A Darker Crimson. Now it's just polishing and adding details etc. I'm feeling a bit panicked if only because I want to get a draft to my agent by the end of the month in order to have enough time to resolve any issues before it goes off to CK. End of this month is 20 days from now. Only one day off and students turning in a major paper on the 23rd for the class I'm TA'ing. But what if it sucks? What if I read this through and it's awful? Arghhhh!

81K. Whew. I wrote about poison frogs today and at this exact moment I am very pleased. The frog scene works great and did what I wanted plus more. Probably tomorrow I will read it and sigh, but all will be fixable. So I think I have only one outright sucky chapter which I will work on tomorrow. Then, I'll start working on bringing in the details and tying up loose ends. Right now I'm working on the synopsis again. So, I may be able to send the MS to my agent and to a courageous reader or two by end of March.

Yes, I am savoring this moment.

Not sure where I am word wise. More stuff slowing me down. I knew I had to work on an updated synopsis and sure enough, CK asked for my most recent one today, so I've spent a goodly amount of time trying to get that fit to send out. Good thing I started on it yesterday. I have a new chapter to write, have a little of it done, not much. Work vastly unpleasant, but am still in possession of a job, so that anxiety is gone for now. Anyway, overall, I am pleased with how things are bookwise.

Back at around 78K because I came across another dreck chapter. Deleted it. I'm pretty pleased with things now up to the late chapters and now I need to get cracking on them. I do have one new chapter to write. Will do that tomorrow. Sigh. Tired.

I'm going to go read my email from George R.R. Martin again.

OK, first, one of my all time favorite authors is George R. R. Martin. I adore his Fire and Ice series and I've been dying for "A Feast of Crows" which I pre-ordered at Amazon some time ago. So, I poked around his website, saw that he's a wee bit behind and decided I would email him and tell him that I love his writing and that he's at the top of my list of writers who make me feel inadequate. (Something he mentioned he felt about other writers, can you imagine that?) Wow. He's just so good. If you haven't read his books, then you are seriously depriving yourself of a giant, giant talent. Anyway, I got a reply from him today! Oh, golly, that was just so exciting. Plus, even though he has a prepared email response, he put in a personalized line (a response to something I said) so I can now say (OK, this is a joke) that George R.R. Martin has read my writing! That will probably stay forever in my email box.

Vampires and demons are going well. Job still stressful.
