OK. The MS is all printed up on expensive paper. Found a diskette that worked. Now I'm off for coffee before I explode from espresso deprivation and then mail this thing. After I buy a box of diskettes so I have a label for the one I'm sending. Note to self - must bring pen. Have no mailing boxes but found a lid that will work. Sheesh. Must --- Have ---- coffee...

94,702. I have no idea if this thing is any good at all. I think so. But I'm supposed to up in just a few hours, putting this baby into the mail. I wish there was a word for this particuar feeling.

Bumping up and down between 94K and 95K. Have not reordered any chapters (whew!) but have tightened up most. Cutting some deadwood, improving the flow, softening some of the scenes between OW and AS. I think it's pretty good.

94K or so. Am working on the ending more right now. JC seems to have liked the story. Says she stayed up late to read it. Anyway, this is the last week. Tomorrow is my last Monday working on this. It will be in the mail on the 30th. sigh. I'm cranky. Tired. Our of sorts. Too much coffee and chocolate, not enough protein. I need to print this puppy tonight and start reading tomorrow. Arghh!!

I forgot to mention that I changed everyone's names practically except for OW and SA. I decided the villain's name was too good to waste on a villain and that I'd rather save it for a hero. So, then I thought of a Brit verision of a name I saw on a letter from a UK IP attorney only that made 3 characters who had names starting with H. So I changed the butler's name to Price, and SA's buddy to James. Now I only have one H name. See how easy this writing stuff is?

95,023. I continued fixing stuff yesterday. I moved the kissing into real time and then while I was at the gym notebooked whilst I pedaled away, until I had some more notions and now I think it's fixed. Jenn C said she loved what she'd read so far (must not have gotten past chap 4) and I've sent her the revised version. So, now I'm not freaking out so much.

94,373. Arghh! It sucks. I was bored all through the middle. And this is without having heard from Jenn C. Probably because she's died of boredom trying to read it. Or else wondering how a no-talent hack ever got published. S*&$%! Moved stuff (of course) Cut a bunch of stuff. Hopefully this is the kind of panic that will result in fixing my doorstop.

96,273. 29 days to D-Day. Jennifer C has kindly agreed to read The Spare for me. I took off last Friday to finish my last paper for school and got it turned in. Whew. Worked all weekend (to the dismay of my son) to get in the last set of hard-copy edits. I moved one chapter to a better spot and added a scene. I need to do one more read through to check the edits, then I will send to JC and pray she doesn't tell me it sucks. If it does, well, hopefully there'll be time to fix it. But I don't think it sucks. Hope not.
