I finished what turned out to be a minor (but crucial) re-write -- maybe more of an edit -- on Lord Ruin. I took all the critique comments, took the common themes or just good suggestions and applied them, or, as often happens, did something I didn't expect to do. Chapter 1 is vastly improved in particular. Moved involvement of LW to JM, Gave JD a part he didn't have before, reduced LW's part significantly. Much better. Then I had to re-write the synopsis which-- sigh-- turned out to be worse than I thought it was. It's better now. Had nearly finished when I got a message from my agent that she needed a copy of the complete MS by editor request. Odd, she didn't say what editor or house. I finished up the synopsis - now much better I think. (Bought a book, "Writing the Fiction Synopsis" and that helped a lot.) Anyway, the revised improved MS went to NY Saturday the 9th. Now I need to call my agent to confirm she got it and find out who requested it.
I am now back to working on The Spare. Am working on Goal, Motivation and Conflict tables. I'm not sure that works for me but we'll see. Interestingly, having not looked at TS for quite a while, I reread the 1st 20 or so pages to shape it up for a contest entry and it was really really really good. So, all my hard, painful work on keeping my story on a straight line seems to have helped. Prediction: two weeks from now I will be depressed because parts are so wretched.
