Reading through the entire draft right now. Some parts are far, far better than anticipated and are exactly what I'm looking for. Others need to catch up. But things are going well. I can see this coming together. The Gardener book was a god-send. Nice to be in a good mood about this for a change.

Two new beginning chapters are completed and at least 1 additional one to add. Not unexpectedly, this leads me to some neccessary revisions of some subsequent chapters. I'm excited about the depth the changes will create. I've now developed and set-up additional resonance for things that happen later. For example, when the h/h end up going for a walk, there is now good reason for SA (the main male character) to follow OW (Main female character) and plenty of good, tension filled reason for the meeting to be uncomfortable.

I've worked out how to redo the focus. Have concrete changes in place for the restructured, refocused beginning. This all comes from reading ohn Gardener's book on Fiction and somewhat less from another book on plots (see website for links, eh?) and I have this strange feeling I can now do in a few weeks what was taking me months and months of editing and absolute agony. I suppose the proof's in the pudding, but there you have it. I should be able to break out of the notebook and leap to the computer.

I am getting nervous because I feel I am thinking too much and not working enough with pen or keyboard in hand. Plus, I must remember to call my agent tomorrow and inquire about status of Lord Ruin. So, I shall stop doing this and start working.

Oh, gosh. Many days since my last entry. But I've been working every day (of course!) Started drafting new chapter and decided I wasn't at all sure or happy about where it was going. It's speaking to me in a different voice than I envisioned. So, I've stepped back and am mapping out different destinations.

Finished working out (stay tuned for the pun) the additional scene while on the exercise bike at the Gym. 45 mins and a deal of sweat later, I have the scene plotted. Now, I will sit down and write it and it will likely be nothing like anything in the notebook.
