Some Fun! Win a Free Book!

Courtesy of Simon and Schuster (and Twitter!) I have five copies of Jennifer Weiner's Certain Girls to give away to 5 random commenters on this post. Last day to comment is April 10. Instructions at the end!

Cover of Jennifer Weiner's Certain Girls

Touchingly funny and tender, with Weiner's whip-smart dialogue and sharp observations of modern life, Certain Girls is an unforgettable story of love, loss and a daughter's search for the truth about her family.

Certain Girls is the kind of book that gets under your skin, reminding you what it felt like when you were thirteen and capturing exactly what it feels like now. Laura Zigman, The Washington Post

Hiliarious... Weiner offers her signature snappy observations and spot-on insights into human nature. Publisher's Weekly

To have a shot at your very own copy to read, leave a comment discussing the role of chocolate in your life. Love it? Hate it? Favorite item made of chocolate? If you don't have a gmail id you'll need to leave me an email address otherwise I might be in the unhappy position of being unable to inform you that you are a winner.

Your entry must be at least one word. Carolyn Karma Points (CKP) for honesty and/or humor. I made up the CKP, but I know you'll want to have some. CKP's rock. Your life will be better if you have some. Now imagine what it would be like for you to have CKP PLUS a free copy of this book.

Yeah. Pretty awesome.

Leave your comment by midnight Pacific April 10, 2009.

I'll start with an example.

Dark chocolate. Yeah, baby. I wish I could eat more of it. Well, I could, but if I did, there just aren't enough hours in the day to exercise off the amount I would like to eat on a daily basis.

My favorite chocolate is Hershey's Kisses and the solid chocolate Easter eggs. I finally quit pretending the Easter candy was for the kids and just snag an extra bag to hide for myself. That is my treat on a stressful day.
Mmm, chocolate. Before I had my children I was an affirmed chocoholic. Now I'm not. Weird, I know. I still really like chocolate, but now it's something I indulge in when I really, really need a little something decadent. And it has to be good chocolate. Not a chocolate bar from the store. Except for Reeses Peanut Butter cups, because those are just yummy. :-D Um, sorry, kind of got carried away! LOL
Best chocolate ever is the Yorkie Bar in London, the ads say they are not for 'birds' but I ate them none the less.
Chocolate plays way too big a part in my life and sadly my butt. Love a good old Hershey bar with almonds. Yum. Now you got me dreaming. Darn. I will not go to CVS tonight!
Last summer we planned our vacation based on visiting a Hershey chocolate factory in Smith Falls, Ontario. We rented a cottage on a nearby lake...only 10 steps away from the private beach. Our new puppy learned to swim there. It was glorious. I think we brought home 50lbs of chocolate...we were very generous in sharing with family and friends. It was a 6 hour drive home in the middle of summer--we cranked up the air conditioning and crossed our fingers it didn't all melt. Margaret
Dark chocolate, besides kicking milk chocolate's butt, helps with math:

Chocolate malts. That's my answer. I had my very first chocolate malt on a wagon train that ended at an Ogalala Sioux Pow Wow in Devil's Lake,ND. You can't make that up. :) And it was the most amazing thing to me. I've never had one quite as good.
I don't have much of a sweet tooth, so I don't tend to eat a lot of chocolate. When I do partake, my chocolate is like my life - dark and bitter.

Kidding.

No, really.

McCormick's makes a new spice blend of cocoa and chile powder. Make a soup out of that manna of the gods and proceed to lick the bowl.
Brownies. Brownies descended from the heavens on a golden shaft of light whilst a host of fierce angels lamented their loss. We owe it to them to honor their sacrifice. It's kind-of a mortal obligation. Every time I eat a brownie, it's an act of reverence and prayer.
