Reviews and writing

Today I got a really nice email about A Darker Crimson. She said many nice things and then expressed some outrage over my Amazon reviews... Now, for the past month or more, I have been very very good and not looked at Amazon reviews at all. Not even once. This email made me fall off the wagon. So, I'm pretty much immune, kind of sort of for a writer. One review said "Well done!" and said a bunch of nice stuff and then gave me two stars. WTF? And then there were some that sounded more like personal attacks. Wow. Guess I struck a nerve! What's the opposite of fans? anti-fans? Nega-fans? Despisers, I guess. Or maybe, raving lunatics? The reason I'm not totally crushed is that in the last couple or three weeks, I've had several nice emails about the book. Still, I should not have looked.

Worked on the Rake today. I struggled with the chapter notion I thought was coolest, plus I kept falling asleep because I haven't yet actually gone to bed early, let alone on time, and then, right when my son's soccer practice was ending, I found the way in, as it were. So hopefully I'll have time to work on it tonight. Except I should just go straight to bed.
