Bad Author Websites

Over the last few months, for whatever reason, I've seen a lot of authors put up new websites or redesigned ones. With one or two exceptions they've all been horrible. For gosh sake, you authors out there! Your writing website is your professional face to readers and the industry. Do you bank at "Bank of Someone I Know"? Is your savings account under your mattress? Unless you have been a web developer by profession, do NOT do your own website unless you do your homework first and read (and understand) reputable books on web design and usability. Please. Do that much. Later tonight I will post an article about what you need to know before you pay someone good money to give you a website that does not meet minimum professional standards. I'm tired of seeing authors get ripped off -- out of ignorance, and by well meaning people who simply don't know any better.

In writing news - holy cow! My agent is now part of what's being referred to as a Super Agency. She emailed the news today because word leaked out. I recognize her new fellow agent names and I'm impressed, but I was already impressed with her. I know this is good. Honest, I swear. OK, no more, off to draft my article.
