stupid web tricks

So, I think I'm going to go to the Dorchester Website and click on the link to A Darker Crimson about a bazillion times because that will make it look like I'm really popular... Right? They have the first chapter posted. Go visit. Make it look like there's a lot of interest in the book.

Interesting that they do their site in Cold Fusion. I've never heard that CF scales well.

I googled my name (another stupid web trick) but I didn't click on any of the links. There weren't any to A Darker Crimson yet. Argh! Sometimes it's a slow descent to insanity and other times, wham. You're just there. How is it for you?

Comments:
Carolyn, I just read the first chapter of A Darker Crimson, I am not sure I can wait for the full book!! I'm half way through the Spare and loving it too!

Carolyn:
The excerpt is great. And your Amazon numbers? More than twice as good as mine, and my book comes out a month earlier than yours. So basically they mean nothing.

...Not like my book has nearly the print run or advance hype yours does. Just that the numbers fluctuate by the thousands just because one person orders a copy. I pre-ordered your book about a month ago.

Thank you for such kind comments about the 1st chapter of ADC, and I hope you continue to enjoy The Spare. Now, about Amazon numbers, I know they don't mean anything. Right. Of course not. But it's too late for me, I'm already insane. They're comming to take me away, he hah!

I just checked my ranking on Amazon's Regency Best-Sellers. I'm behind no fewer than 5 (five!) out-of-print books. So if you think Amazon's numbers are important, I might have to throw myself out the window.

*LOL* I'm glad that I'm not the only one who a) googles herself on a regular basis (and freaks out if there are fewer entries than, say, last week), and who b) constantly checks her sales numbers at amazon (which as we're told don't mean a thing). But since my amazon.com sales numbers are too bad for words, I only ever check the amazon.de and amazon.co.uk figures these days. *g*

Cheers, from Sandy :O)

As you can see, you have good company, Sandra. Amazon sales numbers = author insanity. Same with googling. Although , painful as it is, googling your name isn't totally stupid, just totally painful.
