OK, first, one of my all time favorite authors is George R. R. Martin. I adore his Fire and Ice series and I've been dying for "A Feast of Crows" which I pre-ordered at Amazon some time ago. So, I poked around his website, saw that he's a wee bit behind and decided I would email him and tell him that I love his writing and that he's at the top of my list of writers who make me feel inadequate. (Something he mentioned he felt about other writers, can you imagine that?) Wow. He's just so good. If you haven't read his books, then you are seriously depriving yourself of a giant, giant talent. Anyway, I got a reply from him today! Oh, golly, that was just so exciting. Plus, even though he has a prepared email response, he put in a personalized line (a response to something I said) so I can now say (OK, this is a joke) that George R.R. Martin has read my writing! That will probably stay forever in my email box.
